Ingredients :

  •   Yufka : 15 sheets
  • filo dough-
  •   Dairy Butter : 100 g
  •   pistachio : 1 Cup
  • Walnuts-
  •   Chocolate : 200 g
  •    powder /   pistachio : as needed
  •   Sugar : 1 Cup
  •   Water : 1 Cup
  •   Honey : 2 Tablespoon
  •   Lemon Juice : 1 Teaspoon
  •   Rosewater : 1 Teaspoon

Recipe :

For 25 slices


Step 1: Prepare the Syrup

  • In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water and heat over medium heat.
  • Once it boils, add honey and lemon juice. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes until the syrup thickens slightly.
  • Remove from heat and add rose water or vanilla essence. Let it cool completely.

Step 2: Prepare the Nuts

  • Chop the pistachios or walnuts and mix them with a little sugar(1 tablespoon) or cinnamon.

Step 3: Layer the Phyllo Dough

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
  • Grease a baking dish with melted butter.
  • Place the first layer of phyllo dough, brushing it with melted butter.
  • Repeat this process for 5 more layers.
  • Spread half of the chopped nuts over the layers.
  • Layer 5 more sheets of phyllo dough, buttering each layer as you go.
  • Add the remaining nuts and finish with 4 more layers of phyllo dough.
  • Cut the baklava into squares or diamonds with a sharp knife.

Step 4: Bake the Baklava

  • Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

Step 5: Add the Syrup

  • Once the baklava is baked, pour the cooled syrup evenly over the hot baklava.
  • Allow the syrup to soak into the baklava for several hours or overnight.

Step 6: Add the Chocolate

  • Melt the chocolate over a double boiler (bain-marie).
  • Drizzle the melted chocolate over the baklava to coat all pieces evenly.
